YOUNG FOUNDATION

This area of St. Mary Parish has evolved into a heavy industrial area with site available for lease.  These properties border the Intracoastal waterway with access to the Gulf of Mexico with Highway 90 (Future I-49) boarding this region.  The Amelia area is home to a substantial shipbuilding and repair community including Bollinger Shipyard, Conrad Industries, and Seacraft to name a few and sizeable services supporting the oil and gas offshore extraction industry.

Industrial development exists in other areas in the parish, predominantly along its major waterways, the lower Atchafalaya River in Bayou Vista and the Intercoastal Waterway where the Parish boasts a thriving fishing industry and the is home to the Carbon Black Plants making it the largest producer of carbon black in the United States.
