The major incorpated areas of St. Mary Parish (county) are located along U.S. Highway 90 (future I-49 corridor) with the metropolitan area of New Orleans to its east, Lafayette to its west, and the state's capital, Baton Rouge, less than a one and half hours drive north.
This east highway/interstate access makes traveling to and from work around the parish simple and convenient. There are no hassles of sitting in traffic or worries of delays due to traffic jams.
Infrastructure
Railroad- The Burlington Northern and
Santa Fe run the main truck line through St. Mary Parish
with spurs off of the Louisiana Delta Railroad which provides
feeder services to many businesses in the parish.
Airport – Perry Flying Center at
the Harry P. Williams Memorial Airport in Patterson, Louisiana,
is a total aviation ground support operation, featuring
an award-winning fuel department capable of dispensing both
Jet-A and aviation gasoline. Specializing in offshore helicopter
crew change support, PFC services include an aircraft maintenance
and avionics department, hanger and outside storage for
aircraft, as well as secure parking for 320 vehicles. The
Patterson Airport is an all-weather with a lighted 5400’
runway capable of handling aircraft up to 100,000 lbs. landing
weight. The Louis Armstrong (New Orleans International)
and the Lafayete airports are within an hour's drive.
Water Transportation - St. Mary Parish
is multi-modal in its transportation. There are two ports
with access to the Gulf of Mexico. The Port of Morgan City
is an import/export port for medium draft vessels and the
Port of West St. Mary is an industrial site with access
to rail and the Gulf of Mexico. The Burlington Northern
and Sante Fe railroad has the main truck line in the parish
and Interstate 49 offers ready access to Interstate 10 connecting
markets coast to coast. St. Mary has a municipal airport
at Patterson that can land aircraft as large as a Boeing
737. The Louis Armstrong (New Orleans International) and
the Lafayette airports are within an hour’s drive.
