Berwick

Founded in 1797, the town of Berwick was the first settlement in St. Mary Parish (county).

Berwick is located on the western shore of the Atchafalaya River and has some four plus miles of waterfront property with oil, gas and service-related businesses, utilizing the strategic location. The Gulf Intracoastal Waterway runs adjacent to the southern corporate limits giving businesses in Berwick unlimited waterway access to any part of the nation and world.

The small, yet intriguing, community has several parks, a public library, a nine-hole golf course within corporate limits, and a $1.9 million beautifully landscaped Recreation Civic Complex. Also within the corporate limits are outstanding lower elementary schools and outstanding secondary education facilities for gifted students.

Berwick has become a quaint bedroom community with two newer housing developments, Renwick and Country Club Estates. Waterfront property is also available.
